My poor husband is afraid of the traditional sock monkeys, he's creeped out by the vacant eyes and oversize red mouth. So, in the spirit of Halloween I decided to make a sock monkey costume to star in his nightmares for some time to come.

I used a brown sweatsuit, 1 off white sweatshirt, 1 brown henley shirt,  some scrap foam pieces, and vintage yarn. I spent about $15.00 total and made it in about 5 hours.

Hope you like it!!!!!

the eyes are 2 layers of black chiffon whip stitched to round needlepoint canvas, then I clipped the center of the canvas out very carefully so it was just a frame, the whipstitched to the head and I cut the hole in the head fabric after they were in place.

I can breathe through the mouth... it is made up of 2 arc shaped pieces of foam  with the fabric stretched over it. the I hand sewed it to the head.
