I've always been a big fan of Harley Quinn, but alas, not one to enjoy the thought of squeezing into a bodysuit. Was I ever thrilled when I found out that Harley has a new outfit in the Arkham Asylum game, and I went for it, piece by piece!


Here's my inspiration picture:


I covered a pair of big black goth boots with thick interfacing and purple/red fabric (sorry I don't have a FULL picture of those. Oops!). I also used red opera length gloves amd white smaller gloves from the costume shop - I cut them both to fingerless length, and dyed the white ones as purple as I could. And I added studded cuffs.


The mask is another costume shop fix-up.
I started with a regular old white mask...


And cut and painted until it worked. I actually have it taped to my face.



The shirt and the skirt are both thrifted recons.
Shirt before:

Shirt after a scooped and hemmed neck, and pleather cuffs. (I also did the pleather choker, with velcro).

Skirt after: cut, hemmed, and blood spattered.


I also made the nurse hat out of a piece of thick interfacing. And I even did the nametag. I couldnt find a full picture of her actual tag, but I knew it was the wardens nametag. So I added a bar code, and took a screen shot of the warden from the game to make the tag.


And of course my corset. I basically took a big rectangle of the red fabric, and cut and hemmed and sewed until it was the proper size. Then I took a couple smaller rectangles as straps, and added decor! (The purple under  the spot the red attaches, and the black pleather straps along the outside).
I actually had a few people coming up and recognizing my costume. (Phew!).


And yep, if youre wondering, I was out with Mr J!

I love this costume, I was Harley last year and had to sort of free hand it because likewise, I was not looking forward to the jumpsuit.

The bi-colored bra is the best!
