I'm about to embark on retting and spinning Spanish moss to be woven into Civil War era horse blankets.
This sounds so exciting to me! You WILL post on FF, right?

But of course!

I have 6 large garbage bags fulls of Spanish moss right now.  I'm still doing research on how to properly rett this.  From what I can gather so far. it will be like composting the moss to help get the cuticle off, then processing like flax.  Then to spin it and weave it.  From the original samples I've seen (and there are not too many since they are bio-degradable), they are twined together instead of a tabby weave.
