I made this Amy butler weekender bag for an IYP swap and I actually ended up liking it reeeaaaly much - so now I think I might need to make one for my self.
Normally I don't like zebra or any imitated/or real animal print. But this bag is just so kitch it's awesome.

It's my second weekenderbag and even though I seem to swear that it'll be my last I already find my self thinking about a new one.

And this is how much my cat liked it. She lay on it when ever I wasn't working on it^^

So what do you think?

Whoa, that's a lot of zebra  Wink
Looks great. I like that it's mixed with another print and not a solid.

That's awesome! I love zebra print, I think it's rebelling because all the old ladies around here wear leopard all the time  Grin I actually have a bit of fabric almost exactly like that, I think.  It's not as shaggy as fake fur, but I'm kind of nervous about working with it. Was it hard to sew? What needle did you use? Did you use interfacing?

Sorry about the interrogation, LOL  Wink

That's what we have craftster for!

There was interfacing on but not in the seam allowance. I used a normal needle. But if you think the seam isn't flexible enough you can use a jersey/stretch needle instead Smiley
The bag takes a hell of a long time but the fabric in it self isn't difficult to sew in. It's just like a jacket wool fabric.

Hiya xchanny

No I can't post it as it is a store bought pattern. But I can tell you what you need to know to get a hold of it Smiley

It's a pattern by Amy Butler and it's called The Weekender Bag. You can buy it online but many stores with quilting supplies have the pattern as well. As Amy Butler mostly design fabrics. I hope you find it!

Xchanny
I used this general tutorial to make myself a weekender bag.

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=42927.0

I didn't like the shape of the side of the bag so much so I designed my own shape and used this tute for the rest of the bag.  It turned out well and I really liked the result, although it's pretty huge!  I won't make it as wide next time.  Here's the link to my bag...

Hope this tute helps in case you can't find the pattern for the AB bag.

And by the way, great job on the zebra bag!  I haven't tackled AB weekender bag yet but really want to!  This bag gives me the gumption to try it soon!
