Wanting to help a friend's wife.  She wants a blanket for a life size baby jesus for Christmas.  He brought me one skein of Red Heart Super Saver yarn in deft blue.  Any Ideas??  Patterns?  Any help would be appreciated.

You could do a giant granny. With all the holes in the pattern one skein should be able to make a baby size blanket.

Don't granny squares suck up the yarn?  It's been awhile since I've made them since I don't care for the grandma's afghan look....  To be honest with you I'd chip in for a second skein of yarn and not worry so much about it... unless of course the blanket is just suppose to cover the life size baby Jesus and not wrap around ya know?  I would stick with a simple stitch - just rows of halfs or something simple like that.  Jesus didn't have a lot of fancy stuff and it might look more realistic to go with something plain and more to the time period.

I guess the biggest thing to find out is how big it needs to be and if the baby Jesus needs to be swaddled or just covered with a bit of cloth.  It would be so much quicker to get a receiving blanket and rit dye it dk blue. Sad
