I have a couple of hippie apron tops (the backless kind that tie in the back, made out of simple cotton calico) that I bought at a concert last summer. I LOVE them and I would like to make some more, but as a novice at sewing (I started to write novice sewer, but that sounded like something gross :-) ), I can't seem to figure out how. Does anyone have any tips for me? A tutorial perhaps? Or links to other forums/boards that might help (though craftster is my favorite forum on the whole wide internet, for sure! you are all so talented!!!)

Anyway, can someone, anyone, help me get started?

Thanks!

Hah!
I might have answered my own question. I've also been doing google searches about this, and I found the following link:
http://www.thymewise.net/kw/daysbetween/000857.html

where someone asked basically the same question as me (but worded it so much better!), and apparently there is a yahoo group about hippie sewing: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hippiesewing/

I haven't joined yet, but I'm headed there as soon as I finish this post.

But! Please don't let this deter anyone from putting up tutorials and tips here!

The http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hippiesewing/ link above isn't working.

This is the message you get if you click on it:
Group Not Found
There is no group called hippiesewing. Please make sure you typed the web address correctly. If you have done so, the group may no longer exist.

I'll see what I can find out.

Found it. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hippiesew/
Looks promising. Too bad I'm already up to my eyeballs in worthwhile activities.  Undecided
