Here's my entry, Blackbeards Pirate Hat!  Modeled by my-oh so enthusiastic hushband who will probably be wearing it out for Halloween.

Its been overcast all week so the light in the pics isn't so nice, except to all the collect cat fur despite a good brushing.

(He's trying to be more "pirate-y in this one, with an imaginary hook hand.  Though I don't thing Blackbeard had a hook...)

The was made out of Cascade 220 solid using the Tricorn Hat Pattern by knitlikeapirate.com, and felted.  Its a little snug becuase I knit it on a 8mm circ instead of a 9mm, but the beard holds it in place.  The beard is also Cascade 220 solid, a crocheted chin strap with spiral beardlets.  The gold earrings are i-cords knit out of some bulky Lamb's Pride yarn.

Over all I'm quite please with the result.  Got the idea knitting another pirate hat ages back and though this challenge was the perfect opportunity to get it out of my head.  Enjoy!!

The hat is Tricorn Hat Pattern by knitlikeapirate.com.
The beard was free hand crocheted, a chin strap to which I attached the curls and mustash.
