I'd have to freeze some of that candy, so that others could stand to be around me. Sugar-high and a half! Grin

I've been wondering...when weaving a scarf, how do you keep the whole thing from falling apart?

I've been wondering...when weaving a scarf, how do you keep the whole thing from falling apart?

Well, just as there are many weaving patterns, there are many finishes.

Some scarves I sew a line of stitches using my sewing machine. In this case you need to know how many ends per inch the weaving is. So if my scarf is 8 ends per inch, I set my sewing machine to 10-12 stitches per inch. That makes sure I sew over all the ends. I  use zig-zag, straight stitch, or a decorative finish, depending on the look I want.

Another way is to tie knots on groups of the ends. Say knot together 4 ends, or 6-8 ends, together.

Also you can macram the ends, or weave a band using the ends as a weft (advanced), or crochet the ends. You can glue the ends to a board/card/branch if it is a wallhanging or a decorative piece. You can use decorative clips, use beads and knots. Use a sewn on purchased trim.

Okay, the easiest ways are the first methods, but with imagination, there are many finishes for weaving.

I learned to weave by going to the library and taking out books. They always have nice projects with finishes.
