I agree with the rest of the posters---this craft is amazing.
I am also curious about the dimension and the materials used (even though I mostly work with yarn--and not to make portraits :p)

Thanks for all the kind words!
They are both 6x2 of the square pegboards, and mine are 29 by 29 pegs (normal ones are 30, i don't know why these are only 29!)
I used nabbi pearls, just cause they are cheaper here than the hama brand and come in more colors!
I have about 30 different colors and tend to use about 25-28 different colors pr photo, the many colors are what gives the detail and make it look more like a real portrait:)

I have some software that i found free online for 'pearlifying' but it really sucked, you just have to play around with it in photoshop or gimp or what ever you use to get the colors right, the brightness/contrast function is key as you need a much higher contrast than in normal photos for it to look right!
Then choose no of colors, pixelate, and print!

Bravo!!! These pictures are phenominal!
I am a seed beader, who looms photographs, so I can attest to the fact that there is more 'of yourself' included with every color pallet! I work directly off a photograph using a grid on top....knowing your bead colors are the key!
These are gorgeous!!!
