I would enjoy a colour challenge! Plus I think a colour theme would yield a good variety of outcomes since it's still quite generic.

I like the idea of colour and style challenges Smiley or maybe a piece of jewelry inspired by a song?

I saw a tute for rolling your own paper beads in this month's issue of a mag I subscribe to.

Those could be really interesting to work with.

I am looking to do a personal swap with (or will outright pay for) a knitter who could make an adult sized knitted t-rex sweater for Christmas. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

The color idea sounds good, also quite like the idea of jewellery based on an era such as 20's

I love the colour theme.
Maybe leftover theme could do the fun - make the jewel from scrap of fabric, paper, or anything you could think.

I like the color theme, but I would make it a little more strict, or complicated, such as it must be a complimentary color scheme, (or analgous, triadic, or split-complimentary). Someone mentioned using an image as inspiration. I like that idea, too. I use literary themes all the time, so that wouldn't be much of a challenge for me personally, but I would probably still enter. Or what about a challenge where you have to incorporate a certain number of different materials (for instance 5 different materials or specifically list the materials, like paper, metal, glass, natural fiber, and stone).

What about the idea of a color challenge, with really unlikely colors. I just had to make a custom pair of earrings for a lady, to match a neclace that was like an adobe clay orange and a vibrant purple. Tricky!
