Grin I am so glad you like the hoodie design!! Now I can tell you about the abuse that the hoodie endured in my care. I tried screen printing on it twice and did not like the results. I thought 'oh damn I ruined this!' but then I quickly went to the sink rinsed and back into the washer. I washed it three times lol I was sooo surprised that none of the ink stayed on it but more than anything I was relieved. After that drama I had to make a totally change and try a different idea. This was the first time I embroidered on felt then sewed it on. I really like the results so I am decorating one of mine now too haha
Thanks for being such an awesome partner!!!!!

Oh, that's so sweet and cute! Sweetyevil, I've found I really like to hand embroider felt and sew them like patches.

klum78 and I met up today (yesterday?). I gotta say, it was like, one of two bright spots to my day. I got the most fab hoodie that I wore all over the place (after changing out of my wet coffee stained shirt) and got so many compliments on. Except, for some reason they all wanted to TOUCH it!

I gotta get my camera back from the neighbors so I can get some pics of it...

My partner (theSexyTurtle) received yesterday (according to the DC number, anyway).  I don't know if she likes it, but I'll post the two pictures I took in case anybody's interested.
I chose her theme of phoenixes (firebirds):

It also has random flames in glitter paint, plus flames coming out of one pocket (where I'd imagined the firebird hatched from), and the hood is lined in some soft metallic red fabric. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the firebird is on the back of the hoodie, with the top wing partially on the hood.
I also included an extra:

based on her Hello Kitty theme, and based on a necklace in her wist (though this one's shrink plastic instead of glass).

And some candy that I didn't bother to take a picture of...

Thanks!  While we do have an airbrush (that I have no skill with), it was done with a regular paintbrush.  Wish I'd thought of the airbrush...  it has directions like, "thin the paint so that it is the consistency of 2% milk," which I find intimidating (what if I get it to skim milk? 1% milk? what if it's whole milk consistency? Does it ruin the whole thing?).  Which I suppose puts me in the pre-amateur stage with paint, though I do like to play with paint.  For the tail feathers, I put the paint where I wanted it to go, and used a dry paint brush to make it look properly wispy.  The wings were just done with several different shades of paint, laying down the lightest first, then applying the next layer (had to let it dry a couple of times in between so that I didn't smear it too badly).

If I had to do it again, I'd probably do the colorwork first, then do the outlining, instead of the other way around.  Still, I'm pretty proud of the tail feathers.
