My Mom passed away a week ago yesterday.

On the way up to Illinois, through five days of waiting by her bedside at the nursing home, and including the trip home I made these Halloween trivets.

The pumpkin trivet is from a pattern by Susan Lowman in her "Hot Stuff for the Holidays" booklet. (Although I did add a nose and changed the colors a bit).

The Franken-wiggly and Dracula-wiggly as well as the love-them-or-hate-them-Candy-Corn-wiggly are all my designs.

My sister embroidered a turkey penny rug for me and I made her a Franken-wiggly to take home too.

Mom was an avid crafter herself and my sister and I were calmly keeping her passion alive even in this saddest of times for us.

Sorry for your loss...

I am going through what you have gone through and have found that crafting has kept me from being overwhelmed by the sadness...

You used your time to create fun and lovely trivets!  Your Mom would have loved to see them, but somehow, I feel that she knows that she passed on her love of creating to you, which is a gift for all.

I especially love the cheery pumpkin...I am intrigued by the wiggly pattern as I have seen it in many of the items my mom used to crochet...I will check out that book as it looks fun!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am sure it warmed your mom's heart to see you keeping her hobby alive while you kept her company.

These came out great and I am sure your mom would be proud to use them in her kitchen!

xoxo

Wiggly crochet is the best. Way to keep the spirits alive, both hers and yours. These are fabulous!
