HI!

So my b/f and I recently helped to clean his parents garden out for winter. There were some sweet banana peppers left behind, him and I being HUGE fans salvaged what we could.
The peppers are only 3-4 inches long, which is really small.

The question is, given the peppers size are the seeds mature enough to plant and grow our own peppers?

We have bought chillies from the grocery store before and dried them out and planted the seeds. This worked perfectly. I'm just concerned if the baby sweet banana peppers seed any good for planting.

Thanks!

The best way that I know of to tell if seeds will grow is to dry them slightly, then wrap them in a wet paper towel for a couple of days and see if they germinate.  If the seeds are viable, they will pop open and you'll see a tiny sprout.

If nothing happens in a week, try a second batch.  If nothing happens again, then I would say they are not mature enough.

Start with about five seeds, randomly picked.

That sounds like the most logical thing to do.

Merci Beaucoup!
