a couple of months ago for a multicultural art thing at school i made sugar skulls. im posting them now because its almost halloween/ day of the dead time! yay. (forgive my old looking craft table lol)
these sugar skulls arent traditional, and arent the best ever i know, but i like them :)plus they didnt break, which almost never happens when i first try something! lol
i used this recipehttp://mexicansugarskull.com/sugar_skulls/instructions.html
i already had molds at school, but the same place(as the recipe) also sells moldshttp://mexicansugarskull.com/sugar_skulls/index.html
then i just made up a royal icing recipe for the outside(the blue and big one). the other i just used glitter glue lol(i kinda like it. its more zombie-ish lol)
now this one i made just recently for a more halloweeney shrine for metal vyxen(she said i could post a pic) it isnt quite complete, but i like it so far. maybe people have suggestions??
the skull is made like the others, but has little gems and sequins on it too. the background is tissue paper with skully scatters glued on. and a little charm bat
i bought the skeleton at a 2 dollar store and cut it in half then glued it to the box. maybe ill put fake grass or dirt around it? the pumpkin is like a little lantern in its hand.
the other side shows candy. a bottle of filled with small handmade polyclay donuts(im going to add a ribbon around the cork), a "nano" style chupachup (strawberry and cream flavour),a warhead(sour candy) and some mini candy skulls.
everything in the shrine is shiny because i put acrylic sealant on it.
