I also have a curb-thrifted dresser with crappy handles like yours and I never thought of painting them red- I think that's gorgeous!
Okay, I can kinda see your hubby's point about painting the floor with, say a bucket of paint... but couldn't you use light coats of spray paint with your same template (which is clever as hell, btw) and do a similar pattern? Hmmm...

Okay, so it's going to take me about 5 years to paint this floor!  Well, maybe not that long.  I grabbed a random variety of colors from the garage and am working on squares (3x3 of the faux wood ones) in a random pattern....I have added pattern/design to a few, but I'm not sure I'll keep doing that.  I dont' want it to look too much like a kindergarten classroom, lol. Smiley
I probably only have 1/4 of it done (I'm leaving a 2ft border around the edge of the room undone, since I can't move all that shelving anyway), and that is working on it in 2 sessions.  I'm getting high (even with the door and windows open!) so I'm taking a break.  Still though, it's fun!  I may just do 2-3 squares every night or so, since it's pretty fast.  I need a turquoise color though.  I'll have to check around for one.
Thanks for the idea!  I'll post a few more pics when it's closer to being done.

P.S. Hubby hasn't seen it...wonder if I should have told him?  lol.  Well, it is MY playroom, and I can't imagine anything would look worse that what is already there.

A. I love it
B. Just wait about an hour until he's nice and stoned from the fumes to tell him- he'll be happy about anything by then!  Cheesy

A thanks!  It looks better the more I add...putting black in has helped a LOT.
B the room is an addition to the house, so I can leave the windows open and it doesn't stink inside, woot!

I'll post some pics when I get it done.  Thanks for the inspiration!

Amazing!  Where did you ever get the idea to use those placemats as a stencil?  Bye the way, the top looks great the way it is combined with your expert finishes.

Well, I bought it specifically to use as a stencil, that's what it looked like in my eyes! Smiley

And thanks!  My brain is just wack a doo, so random things come to it.
