So, I did this a while ago but just got around to hosting the pics on craftster. I don't have any before pics, but it was pretty much this pattern, in a long-sleeved tee-shirt that had no shape.

First, I cut off the sleeves to make spats. But when I slipped them over my legs to (kind of) measure, I realized that these sleeves were MADE to be socks lol. I'm sure there is a better way to make these foot/leg-shaped, but I just sewed the contour of my ankle and folded the ends to close. If you are bothered by the seam on your socks just not feeling right, don't do it this way, lol.

Then, I was left with the body of the shirt. I had originally planned to make it into a tank top, but I am beyond obsessed with pencil skirts. The stretch of this material meant that I didn't have to do a closure either, YAY! I also didn't make a pleat/slit since the stretch does allow me to walk in it too, just not very fast; but the way I see it, it's not ladylike to be in a rush, and to me pencil skirts are ladylike, lol. (I realize the EXTREME snugness of this might qualify it as a wiggle skirt, not a pencil skirt...whichever pleases you.)

And yes, I realize that the back is a touch see-through. It shows up more in photos than in real life, and I'm just not very concerned about it, lol...

A fantastic idea! I just cleaned out my closet and know a shirt that would be suited for this very project. Thanks for sharing.

Socks are fantastic, although I would probably have used the rest of fabric for the top as  it was your original idea.
