I love that instead of politcal controversy, your embroidery sparked geographic controversy  Shocked

I totally agree with kjlutz. Smiley
I saw these on your blog craftydame- great work! Great colour choices. I was curious whether the message would generate any debate. I think the stylized map fits well with your simple message, even if you did neglect my former home on Vancouver Island. Wink

Your typography is very bold and eye-catching!

kjlutz, i know, that's totally not what i expected either!  Grin

minouette, i know, i know. and i love the islands (even if i can't afford to go there any more, damn ferry prices! Roll Eyes)
but yeah, i was trying to do it really simple and stylized. i was thinking about it and i remember that the east coast did seem kinda off to me when i was stitching it, but i thought it was just because i was missing half the maritime provinces!

thanks for all the compliments everyone! i originally altered the typewriter photo to do a much large embroidery of it, but for one, emilyflew sent me an AMAZING embroidered typewriter, and two, i haven't gotten around to it yet! the detail makes me happy too.

and for those that are in awe of the french knots, i will admit that they were rather tiring to do. i actually alternated with them, doing a length of floss of the knots, then a length of floss on one of the other words, then a floss of knots, etc. i got bored after the first few lengths, so i had to switch it up.

that being said, i still love french knots! i used a ton of them on my breast cancer piece as well.

check out my crafty blog!

i like exclamation marks.

I commented on these pieces on flickr, but I have to say it here...

I love the fact that Canadians are my next door neighbors, and my family and I would happily become Canadian residents in a heart beat.
