I found a super cute vintage repro baby bootie pattern from the 40s. It had three different styles of embroidered wool felt booties. Even though I had never embroidered a thing in my life, I couldn't pass it up; they were just too cute! I was a little bummed when I found out the pattern did not include a transfer; I had to kind of draw it on freehand, hence the oddly spaced dots and such. Overall, though, I was pretty pleased with how they came out for a first attempt! I ended up giving this pair to a friend who had her baby before me and am now working on an identical pair for my baby (due ANY DAY. Do you hear that, baby??).  Cheesy I used satin stitch on the holes, French knot on the blue centers, straight stitch variation on the blue line, and I forgot what that teardrop stitch in green is called. The ties are just crocheted embroidery floss.

Adorable!  I think you did great without having a transfer to work with.  I would think it's hard to do any kind of shoe because of the curves in the piece.  So cute!  You'll have to get some photos of them on your new baby!

why are baby booties so cute? i have a three year old, and i want to make her a pair.
she will protest- no doubt- about the fact that she's a big girl and not a baby.

Those are so wonderful...wish I'd thought of making booties back when I was preggers for my boys!  I hope you have an easy delivery, a healthy baby, and some time to shower, eat and sleep!  Smiley

The nice thing was, you do the embroidery first before sewing them together. Those pieces of felt are tiny, though! Once they fit him, I'll definitely get some pics. Smiley

lol Can you convince her that they are actually big girl house slippers? My 2 year old wants some, too.
