I came across a hat with a picture crocheted in it that I thought was sooo cool!  The author of the thread gave a color chart, but I'm not quite sure how you use it or how I'm supposed to stitch this into the project!  Do I start and stop with each color that the graph comes to??  I feel like such a newb, can someone help me?  Thanks so much everyone!

Do a search for tapestry crochet instructions.  If you can find some written by Carol Ventura, or check out her books from the library, you'll be on the right track.  Filet crochet also uses charts, but I be your hat is tapestry crochet.
