First things first... my camera sucks, but this project does not!

One of my all-time favorite movies is the 1982 Annie. As a curly-haired freckled child, I suppose I saw her as some sort of hero in a way? I'm not sure, but this movies still makes me happy every time I see it.

I randomly doodled an Annie like character in my sketchbook one day, and decided I really wanted to do an Annie painting. After attempting to sketch out the drawing on canvas, I scraped that idea and went with a method I've been playing with for the past couple of weeks, drawing out the image in sharpie and coloring it in crayons. Let me just say here, I love coloring in crayons! Annie and her speech bubble sat around for a while until I could think of what to put them on.

The idea came to play around with "The sun will come out tomorrow" and my creative mind wen to work. The "rain" and "clouds" are just cut pieces of paper (from vintage McCalls magazines) that I used sharpie over. I actually added the sharpie on top of the Mod Podge, as well as crayon!

I am so completely happy with the result. AND- it also plays homage to the Little Orphan Annie comic strips...

Which wasn't completely intentional... but I can use it as an excuse to explain the eyes! Smiley

Anyway, time to sushh as I picspam the rest of this...

(before I "fixed" the clouds)

This is too cute! The layered effects work so well! I love how dark the piece is in contrast to the quote. Very well executed!

Aww thanks! It's funny because it was overcast for two days after I completed that project. Today it's sunny and I get to show it at an open mic tonight... I'm excited!

Well done! I scored a vintage Annie book the other day at the SalVo. I love the look of the sharpie & crayon over the mod podge, almost looks like everything is floating.
