I received from Gleep today!
First, some cute little firelizard eggs! I hope they hatch soon!  Grin

Next some great coasters that have the symbols for all the weyrs on them.  I'm only sure about Fort and Benden, I can guess at High Reaches and Igen.  How about you guys?

I so needed a hat! The one I have doesn't cover my ears, but this one does!  Hat and scarf set based on Benden's colors so I can pretend I'm a Benden Weyrwoman!  Wink  Love the colors and love the cables!

Thanks for everything Gleep! This has been a great swap!  I hope my package doesn't take too long to get to you!

Cool stuff! And it arrived quickly, too. The eggs look just like I imagine them (and the pot) and the coasters look great - very smart. I think the hat realy looks like something from Pern - and it and the scarf look lovely and warm too!

I'm so glad you liked everything!

*dances around*

All the Weyr images are from the Dragonlover's Guide to Pern except for the Fort Weyr symbol, which is the image the fanclub Fort Weyr has used for years and years (and which I belong to, so, seemed appropriate to use!)

Gleep asked me to post pictures of the goodies I sent her, so here we go!  First off the small, I had a copy of DragonSinger that was falling apart and she had mentioned she likes notebooks, so I tried bookbinding.  It is kinda hard to keep the tension tight enough!  I put self adhesive clear sheets on the cover to protect it.  The first glue I used didn't work, but hot glue works wonders!

She had said she would love to have a brown dragon sculpture based on her character's dragon in her writing club.  I've had this http://www.polymerclayexpress.com/dece2001.html tut in my bookmarks for ages now so I modified it to match the Pern dragons.

The large was the project I got soo excited about.  I had seen several paintings that had embroidery on them and loved the idea.

I used a projector for the map and traced that.  I painted it as a topography map with watercolors.  It's been a while since I painted and it was lots of fun!  Then I took some of the pages from my DragonSinger book, cut out a dragon shape and gave it a wash of brown.  Then I embroidered it with thread, flames and quotes out of the books.

Quotes are: A Strand of Silver in the Sky.  And "Dragonmen must fly when thread is in the sky."

"Free the Flame"  Both the flames and thread has metallic thread in it.

"Fly between Blue and Green.  Soar, dive down, Bronze and Brown."

And notice the Red Star in the upper right corner?  I think it looks pretty and menacing at the same time.  I had a lot of fun crafting for Gleep. Thanks so much for organizing ariaya! I had posted the painting to facebook because I was so proud I had to share with someone, and two people want a painting like it! How cool is that?

Black cat not included in package, she just has to have her picture taken!

I made a post for the painting in the needlework forum.

As I told Faren: I love everything! The little dragon is terribly cute, and the book is really cool, but I must admit my favorite is the painting! It looks professional, she did an AMAZING job on it!

I need to get it framed, and it will hang on the wall next to the Robin Wood MasterHarper Robinton I have. Smiley

Thank you for an awesome swap, Faren!

What a great package! The dragon is adorable, and I really love the painting. Not only is it beautifully done, but the mix of media makes it very original.

I've received my package, and will get photos up as soon as possible. It's great!

My wonderful package arrived from alorralora a couple of days ago (just before the postal strike started in the UK!) There was a great letter in there that she'd sent from Benden Weyr (my favourite place) - she'd also sent something from Manora:

This smells great, and I'm looking forward to trying it, especially now the weather's getting colder and my skin's getting drier. Unfortunately, this newly found Ancient's technology of 'plastic' used for the pot was not very reliable, as it somehow managed to leak! Now my lovely bag from Benden has a bit of a (not very noticeable) stain, which I can wash out, although it smells lovely.

It's a nice big messenger bag, very useful, with a couple of pockets and a pretty lining (I don't think these photos really do it justice):

alorralora had also sent me this spare banner from Benden Weyr, which is really cool:

Last but not least, alorralora's daughter drew me this adorable pcture of Menolly and her firelizards, which both my little boys want to put on their walls:

Thank you so much alorralora, I loved everything!
