Questionnaire is edited but ultimately borrowed from mare mares charm pack swap

Swap name: I Spy Novelty 6” Charm Pack Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: 1boy1girl1kitty2
Sign-up date range: October 11th to October 18th (6 pm central), 2009
Date to send item by: Monday November 2nd, 2009

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): Possibly. I want to have equal groups of 4, so if sign-ups are almost over and we have equal groups I may close early.

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? no
If so, which country?  The likelihood of shipping outside the usa is only about 1 or 2 packages at most costing $2-3

Age requirement? 16

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES
- Is at least 18 years old: YES/NO

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES/NO
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES/NO
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES/NO
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES/NO
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES/NO
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 16 years old: YES/NO
- Participant lives in the United States: YES/NO
   - If yes, understands that Delivery Confirmation number is required for this swap: YES/NO
   - If no, understands that a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES/NO

Details of swap:
For this swap you will create your own charm pack to send out. A charm pack is a group of coordinating fabrics that are 6 inches square. For this swap our charm packs will contain 24  pieces of fabric each.  Participants will be placed into groups of 4, which means you will send out 4 identical charm packs. (unless you choose to be in more than one group)

Requirements for charm packs:
1. Fabric needs to measure 6 inches by 6 inches. Please measure carefully.
2. Try to send as many different types of novelty prints as you can. (ex- prints of lipsticks, footballs, rocket ships, candies, penguins) not a charm pack made up of 6 different penguin prints and 6 different car prints
3. Fabric must be 100% cotton, and please use good judgment when choosing fabric. ONLY send what you would 100% happy to receive yourself

People may sign up for more than one group, (max of 3 groups) but you must create different charm packs for each group. First time swappers may only sign up for one group.

Please put some thought into creating your charm pack! Although this is a great swap for stash busting, you may need to buy some fabric to flesh out your charm pack, if you don’t have enough fabrics to make up 12 different prints you may have to go to the store! You should include darks, lights, and mediums, as well as small scale and large scale prints. But ultimately its up to you but be sure you are 100% satisfied with the charm pack you are sending out

Feedback:
Communication is very important to me. Please let me and your groupies know when you send and when you receive. When you send out you need to pm both myself and your group with your delivery confirmation numbers. You need to post in the thread after you sign-up and remember to hit that all important “replies to your posts” button, since I may put updates on the thread. This is a quick swap so I won’t expect people to check in or chat a lot on the thread, but please return pm’s from myself or your group in a timely manner (a timely manner to me is 2 days or less).  If you don’t follow these rules I will note it in your feedback.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:

Smiley this sounds like a cool idea, what are the fabrics for - anything in particular? quilting or something? or is this just a swap of printed sqaures of fabric for any sorts of crafts?

I sent in my pm yesterday I think it was.  Yay!  I'm so excited!  I am making a bunch of quilts for a children's hospital and I wanted to make some I spy quilts so I'm totally stoked!
I hit the quilt store a few weeks ago in anticipation and have some cool novelty prints ready to be cut to size!  Yay!

most will use them for quilts but a 6" square of fabric could be used for a number of other crafts. there is no wrong way to use a charm pack

So there are 24 pieces but 2 of each one?  so 12 prints total per pack right?

Should the fabric be pre-washed or not? All the stuff in my stash is washed!

I prewash all of my fabrics as well - however I did just purchase new fabrics that have not been prewashed - just in case.  Maybe if there is enough of us there could be a prewash and straight off the bolt group?  I will go either way on it - I just wouldn't want to mix the two ya know?
However that is not up to me since I'm not in the captain's chair - just thinking out loud Wink

Im going to end up with a combo - I have some already (all washed), but I probably need to buy some too - I can easily wash the new stuff, but I cant 'un-wash' what I already have so pre-washed might be easier.  Also some fabrics shrink more than others so even if they are all 6" to start they might not all be the same once they are washed.

I hear you on the shrinkage.  I feel the same way - fabrics all do shrink differently so I do prewash - however others don't - the theory is that charm packs come without being prewashed so all is good.... however if you mix and match that would be a different story.
