I've got a gorgeous cardi which my bloke's granny knit for me. It's off-white and I stupidly stained it with oil from a bicycle chain. Really can't get the stain out, and would prefer it in a darker colour anyway, but have no idea how to go about it as all the clothes-dye available at my chemist says it's only for synthetics.

Can you help?

It's pretty easy to dye wool.  Do you know if it's 100% wool or is it a blend??

I think it's a blend. But there's definitely a lot of wool in it. Should have kept the label which came with the yarn, shouldn't I?
