Hehe not really. I DIGRESS. I don't know what it is with these things, but I LOVE boleros. With a flaming passion, its insane. So during my covert digging through the 'give-away' pile of old clothing that I am not so sure I'm supposed to be filching from, I foundddd....
A black turtleneck sweater! LET REJOICING ENSUE. Ahem. It wasn't all that terribly interesting, but I made off with it anyway. And...this isn't technically the one I used...I just cut up the original before I took a picture. Anyway. So...after minor alterations...I ended up withhhhh...
Yay! (Forgive the picture blurriness...I blame my technology) In other news, this was SO. EASY. Anybody with a sewing machine and some scissors can make this. And you don't even have to have a sewing machine, either. I am just a prime case of hand-sewaphobia...
YOU WILL NEED.
.A turtleneck sweater
. (Of course, you do not have to use turtleneck, I have just never tried a sweater without one, and therefore do not wish to go about touting something I have no knowledge of
(Mine was 2 feet and then trimmed) piece of ribbon/shoelace/string in a coordinating (or not) color
.Sewing machine OR needle and thread in coordinating (or not) color
. (Please ask your parents' permission before operating this kind of dangerous sharp equipment, okay?)
Take your sweater and measure about six inches down from the under-armpit of both sleeves, and mark, drawing a line betwixt the two points. THIS should be a bit below the bust line, with an inch or so for seam allowancing. (Depending on you/your body shape/length. I have a squatty torso and negative boobs, so longer torsoed and actually chested people might need to measure a bit more, but don't do too much more, because it might get exceedingly bunchy at the end.)
Amputate on the sweater, cutting along the line you marked. Fold raw edge under and HEM. Me thinks a serger would be better for knitted fabric...but...I lack one, so...I don't know
Above picture is what you should have at this point in time. ALSO. If you want a more fitted look, you can take in the sweater at the side seams.
And guess what...YOU'RE DONE. ISH. !!
NOW...TO TIE! The tying part is really not hard...you can do it!
Get thee thou ribbon or piece of string.
Makest sure that thou likest thou chosen string or ribbon, and that the string or ribbon is long enough...verily...
(Yes, I changed ribbons...the black wasn't showing up to nice) Threadest thou thine ribbon through the neck of thine sweater.
Pullest out of the bottom, and thou shalt havest this. Hopefully.
Tie-est thou thine ribbon....
Makest thou a bow...and VIOLA! Grin cheesily, because you are DONE!
(Forgive the Old English; I've been watching Monty Python...)
What do you think?? Mom has already told me it looks sorta weird, so its okay
I would LUB LUB LUB to see you guyses' if you make one!!! PWEESE!
