ah, i didn't know that the first run of the pattern had issues. not surprised, though - that does happen with patterns from time to time. Smiley

and thank you. he was a lot of fun to make, and even more fun to take silly pictures of.

It was actually the wrong pattern all together - for the first monkey not the one that was the final monkey - long story  Cheesy  So it wasn't even an issue of typos and errata needed - it was the wrong pattern Wink

I saw this monkey and knew it was CraftyDebs pattern.  I love this monkey for some reason.  Yours looks good and life size.  He just got hold of some the best bananas and fritos around.

As far as guage goes it is hard.  I crochet tight so everything I crochet comes out smaller.  For me to get the guage correct I have to crochet with a bigger needle.

CraftyDeb writes good clear patterns.  I work with often.

That's some big monkey!   I'm curious, how much yarn did it take to make him/her?

i used just about the 8 ounces the pattern calls for. i had most of a 7 ounce skein of bernat super value left over from my spartan, and then i used a bit from a second skein.

I made two of these monkeys, at the same time- with the same weight yarn, same hook, etc... and got two totally different sized monkeys. One was HUGE and one looked more like the pic on the front of the pattern. I still owe two more, because I got the great idea to promise them to my niece and nephews before I had finished even one. When working the rounds for the tail/arms/legs- my hands and fingers cramped SOOO bad that it was slow going. Now I wish I had made one giant monkey for each sibling pair! Smiley
