So last semester Jay McCarol of Project Runway came to my school for a Q and A session. In honor of his visit the University Program Board put together a trashion show. (Clothes made out of trash or reused items.)

Here is my dress!! Big thanks to my friend for modeling it!

Here we are together

And here we are with Jay McCarol!

From the top down:

The headband is bicycle inner tube with a yoyo made of tablecloth.

The straps on the top were made from bicycle innner tubes, the bodice was made of seatbelts, the boobs were vinyl records and raffia placemats.

The bottom is made of a second hand table cloth, duct tape and the black part sticking out the bottom is crocheted vhs tape.

Even the shoes were bought from a second hand store and painted.

Comments and criticism always welcome!

That's so cool...I've wanted to be a part of a trashion show since I first heard of them a few years ago. You did a fantastic job Cheesy I bet yours was the most unique, pulling so many great materials and crafting methods together. Good for you, the dress looks fantastic!

Trashion? Never heard that, but now I know why I didn't throw away those old vhs tapes. Cool

I love that dress and it doesn't look like any trash at all.

Beautiful!!  I would absolutely wear that, to a party, or to the grocery store, or...

How awesome that you got to meet Jay and that your school was cool enough to put on a trashion show!  I've never heard of it before either, but I'm definitely going to be googling it now!

1.  Jay McCarroll is swoon worthy awesome.
2.  That is one of the more innovative ways to reuse vinyl records.
3.  Making all those disparate items come together as one, dope!

Good job, and woot for reuse!

Very creative upcycling!  I would have never guessed the dress was made of all of the different recycled parts.  Great job!
