Ok it is just one mitten but I figured it out yay! It always takes me forever to finish mittens. By the time I get one done I don't want to do the other. I just took the one pic and flipped it to make 2. The actual mittens she wears in the movie are knit but I don't know how to knit so I made this. If anyone is interested on how to make them I will put together a tutorial. If no one is interested I won't bother so just let me know Cheesy

Ok first step :Crochet a pair of mittens using your favorite pattern

Lay out a mitten and ch a piece from top all the way down to the tip and back up again. (I used an H hook)

Then sc 2 rows.

Lay piece down on top of mitten then sew where the red lines in the picture are marked.

Then do another long piece the same size as the last one  and weave it around. (First mitten in bottom pic) after that sew up the front where the red lines are in the pic. (second mitten in bottom pic)

Next sew all around the edge. Do an up and down stitch as if you were gathering something but don't bunch it. (I don't know what the stitch is called) and not a wrap around stitch. You want it to look like it is bumped up not blended in. (last mitten in bottom pic)

sorry about the horrible drawing. I took pics but the flash made it too bright and you couldn't see it very well. I hope this helps  Grin

Aaaah... so simple, and so brilliant! Why fake cables if you can intertwine real cables? Haha, this rocks! Congrats on your twisted mind, and thank you for sharing the pattern! Grin

I used the fake ones because I figured anyone could do them and you can also put them on your favorite mittens so it will fit you the way you want them to fit Cheesy

April, you are absolutely my hero. I too am a Twilight mom and I will be 28 in March. Can I just say that your Patterns are awesome.
I was bummed that I didnt get to make a hat for the first movie because we lived in Okinawa and it didnt play til February and it doesnt get cold there so I was really really bummed. This year we live in Virginia and I am making me and my girlfriends matching sets for the Winter. We are going to the NEW MOON midnight showing and We are going to be ready.

Love your stuff, keep it up.

Can I just ask though, Where did you get your mitten pattern from? I can't find one suitable. Sad
Thanks,
Rebecca.

I made it myself. I am going to be making a pair of mittens soon when I get time so I will post the pattern when I am done. I would have posted the pattern this time but I was unhappy with the thumb. I made it too tight and I didn't want to re do the whole mitten. There are some good free mitten patterns on the LIONBRANDYARN website that might work Cheesy

Nice. I can knit squares. Little squares that make charming potholders and long squares (ok, rectangles) that just keep going until I go, "hmm...scarf" and stop. The reason I started crocheting is because it was so much more versatile (I think) than knitting for an intermediate level. I always envied knitters their lovely cables, though, and I totally dig this way of "faking" them in crochet. They really looked knitted at first glance. I may try this on something else even. I am seeing a cabled scarf in my future. Thanks for the tutorial.
