i'm trying to figure out the best way to paint checkers on my wall, but im not sure the best way to attempt it...i want the checkers to be small, about 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches...how can i make sure that they're straight, and neat, considering i dont have a ruler, or straight-edge, or whathaveyou that's the length/width of my wall?  any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Masking tape? The special kind for painting trims that you buy from the hardware store Smiley

Or a string line, that you can use as a guide to draw the lines with a pencil?

I'd say 2.5" masking tape.
