i totally second that SB,

This made me laugh quite hard, I think I was almost in danger of snorting porridge out of my nose. That would not have been pretty!

SB is an abbreviation of two characters in Chinese, and people write it on the internet as 'SB'. It is a rather crude expression, kinda meaning the same thing as "See you next Tuesday".

Bwahaha! I didn't get it so I did a web search. I'm going to say goodbye to everyone at work like that now. No one will understand why I am grinning like an idiot.

oh dear, and I'm always writing SB as an abbreviation for the city where I used to live, Santa Barbara.  Cheesy

i haven't looked it up yet myself, but I get the feeling "see you next tuesday" means something similar to "how's your father," though I honestly don't know what that one means either! (silly american here)

eep! i just looked it up in the online chinese dictionary!!! teehee, guess i'll have to come up with a new nickname for sheepblue Wink maybe just sheep? a thousand apologies for that, lol! i was talking to a swedish or dutch person online a long time ago and when i said my name was babs he got all silly and said that it was slang for a loose woman! in an attempt to find it for this post, i looked on the urban dictionary and found out how awesome my nickname is.... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=babs

ok that was totally off topic, back to ATCs!!! Smiley

Hahahahaha!  I think all this SB stuff is hilarious!  You never know what will be offensive in another country.  When I was in college I went to Europe for a study abroad program and while in Italy went to this cute little outdoor cafe with some friends.  None of us spoke Italian, so we were really trying to convey what we wanted or that things were good with gestures -- anyway, one girl kept giving the thumbs up to our waiter, who was getting so mad at us!  It turns out that was an obscene gesture to them --  I have never laughed so hard in all my life.   Cheesy

I learned all about "fanny" as in our American fanny packs in one of the swaps!!  Grin

I guess with an international group, I would hope someone would point out the differences in good humor so I don't offend anyone! Undecided

no wonder swapping is so much fun--lol--we sure learn weird things, eh?

teehee, yeah the fanny pack is great! i also like when someone asks for a "rubber" which is slang for eraser here Smiley
but now we'd better stick to crafty talk or the mods are gonna bust us *looks around for loves2experiment* lol! actually, you gals just gave me a great idea for a series of cards! how about words/gestures that have a rude meaning in a foreign a language? i can already think of a gesture... in the uk they flip people off by using 2 fingers, which is extremely similar to the "V for victory" sign!

cute idea for a swap! I know when I traveled a lot, I had to be prepared in advance by people who taught us all the proper things and things not to do in each country... Grin

ps--since I am a mod, I need to slap myself and everyone else in the head for being off topic!!  Grin

lets move the swap idea to the discussion thread?
