I decided this Halloween that I would dress up my son as an '80's glam rock star - he's obsessed with Guitar Hero and my favorite character is Izzy Sparks, so it only seemed appropriate..... I also wanted some pieces that he could possibly wear again after the holiday is over, so I decided to make him a concert tee with tattoo arm sleeves.
I started with a plain black shirt (given the season, the only kind that I had to start with was a long sleeved) and a pair of small tattoo arm sleeves (they are super stretchy so they don't even gap on his arm) the from the Halloween section.
After making the shirt short-sleeved, I cut the top portion of the tattoo sleeve and sewed it into the shirt so I don't have to worry about them slipping around or my son trying to take it off. I also added a band (Steel Panther, an 80's glam rock tribute band) logo to the front of the shirt.
And of course, an action shot:
This was a fairly easy project, however, the hardest part was attaching the tattoo sleeves to the shirt itself. Since the tattoo sleeves stretch so much, they are substantially smaller than the sleeves of the shirt. I found it easiest to use a large tube to stretch both of the fabrics out so I could pin them together.
