Candy Land Recipe Cards!
«
on:
October 03, 2009 08:22:08 PM »
So, this is technically my first real post, after years of creeping on this website! Anyway, a few years back I bought a giant candyland towel which came with all of the playing pieces (best purchase ever!
) I still use the towel, but have always had the pieces lying around, so I decided to use them to make mini notebooks / recipe cards! I bound them using a drill and some binding from an old notebook. 3 of them have heavy index cards inside, while one of them I used loose-leaf. I would absolutely love any sort of feedback!
Fronts:
Backs:
Inside (excuse my terrible handwriting that makes me look like a 5 year-old boy):
Thanks for looking!

I love that you used the cards for anything--Candy Land is such a classic. I really love the look and function of the spiral bound notebooks and recipe cards--especially the ones with double colors. Coveting! Rocking!

i love the use of old spiral-notebook spines. was it what you would consider "more work than it's worth"? because I've always thought it might be and that's the reason i have never tried to repurpose spiral notebook wire.
also, I had to do a double take because your handwriting looks exactly like my fiancee's. lol. and he's a 21yr old boy. (if it makes you feel better)

It actually wasn't that bad using the spiral notebook wire, especially after doing a couple of them. I kind of just free handed with a pencil how far apart each hole should be, drilled it, then twisted it through (trying to keep the original shape as best I could without stretching it out). You should definitely give it a try!
Haha and that is too funny about your fiancee's handwriting, it definitely makes me feel a tiny bit better

Two things.
One, I am completely jealous of your creativity as well as these adorable little books. Candyland is amazing and any excuse to have the pieces of it out and around all the time is the best thing ever.
Two, never once in all my notebook making, book altering dreams did the idea of reusing spiral wire and a drill to make new books pop up, either in my head or in my countless hours of online research. I can't wait to get started.
This post totally made my day! Glad you came out of creeping mode to post it!

Aw! Thanks so much for the compliments! I'm glad you enjoyed them! Good luck trying out that technique, I kinda just made things up as I went.
