October 3rd was marked as the fisrt ever International day of Felt!!
I, personally, am trying to use it as a means of reaching out to my community to see if there are any other crafty/artsy types out here.  The population is less then 300 in town with a few hundred others spread out ruraly.  There has to be at least one or two others lol.

Lets start at my house:
My first ever nuno felted item.  it is a rectangle with limitless possibilities, and may end up becoming a cowl -if it doesn't end up buggy, but its quite cool out so I think maybe the bugs are sleeping now Smiley.

In the background of this one you can see my door knob hanger:

Here it is up close and personal!

Next stop is the locally owned grocery store,  Another of the "door" hangers, hung on the bars, so that it wont get caught in the door and get wrecked.  I did stick tags on it with a link to FeltUnited.com, and my info on the back, in hopes someone might take one and call me inquiring further into felting.

And lastly the bank.  I also made the ladies some rope necklaces, but did not get pictures of those.
good shot of the flower:

good shot of the bowl:

and the display as I put it out.  they also had some of thier information on the table for a gas give away... but eh, can't fight to much right?  besides, my flower makes it look all look really pretty!

have a happy international day of felt!

I love the look of felt, it's something I've always wanted to try!

I really like your "flag" - the colours are wonderful!  And the flower is pretty Smiley  Well done!

Thank you!  Felting is a really rewarding (and somewhat instant gratification) craft (art?)   I love it and encourage you to dive in and give it a try!

Awesome Belladune!

I love your piece of nuno - the colours are blended so perfectly, it just looks gorgeous!  I'm also loving your door hangers - great texture!

I hope you get some bites from the community about felting!

Here is my contribution to Internationa Day of Felt...

I had wild plans to do so many things, but as happens, life had other plans.  I'm still happy with what I did do though, which was felt up a heap of rocks in the colours of the day and anonymously leave them around town for people to find.  I had no idea how people would react to them, but I left them in areas of high pedestrian traffic with little tags attached so people could look up the FeltUnited website and find out more about what was going on.

Here's a couple of pics of rocks left about town:

I only got a few pics as I was trying to be all inconspicuous and scuttle away before I aroused too much suspicion!

When I went out to collect them at the end of the day I was absolutely stoked to find out that  there were only two left where I had left them - people had been interested enough to pick up the others!  Isn't that the whole point of the day?  Woo hoo!

Here's a pic of a few more of them at home before being tagged up and left outside:

I made a bunch of leaves:

And then hung them from some trees in front of a nearby library:

Too bad the real leaves are still on the trees, I think it would be neat to hang them from a bare tree.

I really like just how organic everyone's projects have been, and how well they fit in to their installed space.
Especially those leaves ptarmic wumpus. I'm sure they would have been quite a delight to the people passing by.

sallyb - your pictures remind me of an easter egg hunt.
I can imagine the childish surprise of the people discovering those little treasures about town. Smiley

Here is what I did for Felt United day.

And I also added one of my flower pieces to the fence in front of our home.

I am pretty sure that most people driving by are not sure what kind of art it is but hopefully they enjoy it!

Hopefully they enjoy it enough to investigate it further and have a go themselves!

It looks fantastically bright!

Those look so beautifully made, and very durable.
Your red one has such a gorgeous design.
I was so glad to hear that the theme was red. It's such an eye-catching color  Smiley
