A few months ago, I had what I thought was a little headcold and my doctor prescribed me 3 different medications (I didn't fill any of them, and got better in about a week).  Before that, I went in for my yearly exam, and she tried to prescribe 3 (different) medications (including something for allergies, and I've never had allergies).  Every time my dr gives me a prescription and I don't fill it, my mom completely freaks out (I'm 27 btw Wink).  Lately, I've been trying to let my body alone, to not add any chemicals I don't have to..

Anyway, long story short, I do NOT have anything against Abilify specifically..  I just thought about the drug commercial that had the worst side effects I've ever heard.  I never noticed before I did this x-stitch that Abilify lists "death" as a side effect of this medication TWICE!  I'm sure it's helped some people, I just thought the side effects were really creepy.  Anyway, pics:

I found the font on a website somewhere (can't remember which, sorry..  I just picked the smallest font I could find).

I designed the border myself, it was a huge pain in the a$$ Wink

when I sewed on the back, it got a little wonky :-/  It won't lay totally flat now, even though I frayed the edges..  ideas on why?

pill skull...  I purposely made the sheen on the pill off white..  I didn't want it to look pretty at all..

In case it isn't readable (stupid camera phone!) the side effects (or the ones I could fit, there are more) are "unusual changes in mood or behavior, thoughts of suicide, increased risk of death or stroke, high fever, stiff muscles, confusion, uncontrollable muscle movements, high blood sugar, coma, death, dizziness upon standing, seizures, impaired judgment or motor skills, and trouble swallowing".  This isn't the most perfect project I've ever made, I'm just going to keep it for myself.  Basically I just needed to get out some angst after my last doctor's visit.

Really great.  Those ads alwyas creep me out too.  The side effects seem way worse than the actual reason you are taking the pill.

I love it!

I take abilify, FWIW. When you have delusional mania, the side effects outweigh the risk of not taking meds. (Not taking my meds will almost certainly lead to death, or worse.) You want a really scary one? Effexor. That shit is the worst thing I have ever had to put in my body. It works great when you take it, but coming off it or missing a dose...OMG. Makes swine flu feel pleasant.

I love anything that goofs on pharma. I have been diagnosed bipolar type 1 since I was 11 years old. Pharma and I go waaaay back.  But when you live with a demon you can't control, it's better to take your meds than not to ;-)

I was some stuff for my ulcer a while ago that took away all the pain I was having, but wouldn't let my body absorb any calcium AT ALL  Shocked  But when you're in that much pain, it was worth it for a while...  Thanks for your response, I was worried people who actually take this med would be mad at me Wink

i love the cross stitch!

(however, from the medical side, i would say you need to switch doctors OR be more proactive while you're there and tell her not to give you any prescriptions! i have an issue with not taking meds, but then again, i had a kidney transplant. Wink)

Actually, I just found out that the best doctor in the town where I work just got a few openings for new patients (he's so good, you have to wait for an opening to join his practice!), so I'll be switching to him soon.  I don't trust doctors very much, but I'm excited to try somebody that I might actually trust.  Eventually the "I'm not taking what you prescribe" thing would have bit me, it's time to switch before I get myself in trouble Wink  The dr I have now keeps prescribing antibiotics for virusus  Roll Eyes

that list of side effects is scary!!  Luckily my doc is not a pill pusher, and does everything possible to find out what is wrong with me. She's young yet, so I think she still cares LOL  Hopeully you can get in with this new doc asap!  But I definitly agree that if you *need* the drug, take it!

The work looks good,  not sure why it came out wobly perhaps the machine pulled the bottom tighter then the top?  But great stiching!

I love it!
I get the same feelings from the monster list of side effects on most stuff like that too.  There's this little comedy sketch done by the Radio Free Vestibules, entitled "Dydrahofaphenoxamyn ."  I think it would really give you a chuckle.  I can't find a link to it online though.  Sad  Bummer!  (Basically they are making fun of side effects on medication, and this particular pill is to cure slightly itchy earlobes- the list of side effects is gigantic and scary.  The kicker is that the final side effect listed is slightly itchy earlobes.  It's really a riot!)
