Hi ladies!

I am looking for some suggestions and help.

I am looking to use this super cute white dress that I got on vacation as I never got a chance to wear it in my "hometown" I was going to dress as a fairy, but decided to go for a bride, I just need a little help to make this bridey - lol, if thats a word.

Here is the dress

I want to perhaps add a tulle skirt, lace gloves and a veil?? But where do I start to learn how to make them?? Or should my skirt be a circle skirt with tulle?? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I think you could gather a rectangle of tulle and tack it under the 2 ruffles on the skirt.  It wouldn't be as fussy, and you could trim it to be the length you want a little bit easier if you find it's too long once it's on the skirt.  Maybe adding some ribbon rosettes or ruffling on the top of the bust would be nice too.  The gloves and veil totally work.  What about a ribbon garter?  White ribbon gathered onto some elastic maybe?

your dress screams 80's glam rock bride!!! i love it! i made a tutu for my daughters first birthday. buy some tulle, i wouldnt know how many yards to tell you since it depends on how fluffy you want it and your measurements. there might be an easier way but this is how i did it. i of course cut it into smaller strips but once i did, i just ran a basting stich through the tule and pulled the thread to gather it. i did it to several pieces and then sewed the layers to gether. this was before i had a serger. i sewed them on to a piece of satin ribbon to tie around my daughters waist so it left a big bow in the back.

the gloves, well you could get fancyish cheap stockings and cut the toe part and make a slit for your thumb for that 80s look. the veil....well you could just use tulle. dont know how to do that though. just gather some and stitch it to a comb, the ones that stay in your hair..do you know which ones i mean?  Undecided hmm...maybe im not being too helpful on this one.

well i hope you like my ideas even though i dont know if 80's bride was what you were going for. but im sure you could rock it!  Wink

Make a veil, too! You can use one of those cheap wire combs and just whip stitch all the leftover tulle onto it. Make it extra super duper puffy! Can't be 80's glam without puffy!

I like your dress, and all the suggestions sound great.  I would also suggest making a cumberbun or an obi sash in stead of the belt you are wearing in the picture.  This could be white or any color you like.  If you make a regular sash or a cumberbun, you could make a bow in the back.
