Oooh, this is so tempting... I just got a lovely book Miyako Kanamori called "Sock and Glove", it's given me tons of ideas. But I just don't have time for swapping right now!

It is Amy, before clothes and hair. It was the only pic I could find fast, hope that's okay!

Ive never made a sock or glove doll, but they seem very interesting. Would anyone mind recieving a first attempt?

The doll pictured was my first and the one I make for this swap will only be my second - so go for it!

It was easier than I thought, but I used "flat" socks - by flat I mean there was no raised pattern to the fabric. I had tried to make some critters a while ago when I had bought some cute fuzzy socks on sale and it was just a big mess. Take an old pair of your athletic socks and try out legs or arms on them - so you get the feel of it. I sewed first, and cut second. It is easy (I think) to add the arms or legs or ears if you use matching thread.

I'm sure some of us might be in the same boat as you are, a first-timer.  I made a regular sock doll so many years ago and tried to duplicate it a few years ago but it didn't come out too well so I had to scrap it.  I did make the stretch glove doll 2 years ago from the link I posted here in one of my posts.  However, I'm sure I might try something else for this swap, depending on what my partner's preference is and if I can possibly come up with an idea for it.
