This was definitely a challenging challenge but I took the concept and ran away with it.  After about five or six different designs flew around in my head for awhile I finally came up with one that I like and then it was three whole days of hard crafting and straw searching.  I'm very happy with the result and I hope you all like it to.

Technically the box is masonite that I cut down with a TABLE SAW!!!!...hehehehe........ (sorry I went a power tool crazy for a second.)  I used wire nails and wood glue to put it together.

The lighting is Christmas lights strung and glued from the back, and EL wire that I glued down and framed with hot glue and straw tiles.

and then LOTS AND LOTS of straws cut to various lengths and glued with hot glue.  For me the hot glue worked great  and the string lights don't seem to be too hot.

Now with full frontal view

Wow, I love ambient lighting, and considered that, but thought the straws would melt. LOL

Very pretty.

WONDERFUL AND CREATIVE AND WOULD THIS BE GREAT FOR A CHRISTMAS DECORATION.   I thought long and hard and stared at the straws for a long time but never really came up with anything so I didn't join in the fun this time.

This is great, and it looks really cool when it's all lit up. Is the squiggly red bit around the edge straws too?

Awesome job, it's like a do it yourself Lite Brite! Everyone was so creative with this challenge, it's going to be hard to know who to vote for because they are all so great.

This is a great idea, and it reminds me that I wanted to get out the lite brite for halloween decor.  Thanks! Smiley
