I love this scarf! I think it's going on my t-do list for Christmas presents!

Just one question... How much yarn did it take to make it all? I'm going yarn shopping this week and need to know how much to get.

I used Lion Brand Jiffy Thick & Quick (Super Bulky) and depending on the length you like (a good length for me at 5'2" is 5 feet), it could be around 1/2 to 3/4 a skein in each color   Smiley

Lovely, thank you.

ooh, also, how did you do the top part of the tube?

Did you crochet a separate part or did you just make it look separate with the black yarn?

Sorry to bombard with questions!  Grin

This is so wonderful!

I'm very much a beginner at crocheting, so far all I've made was a square, a granny square, a flower, and a total disaster of a hat, and i think this might be the next thing I try.

What size needle did you use? I have a size P and a size J, would either one of those work?

Ah!  Sorry I didn't clarify, I'm really terrible at writing patterns!  Yes it's a separate part, I just DC in 10 stitches on each side of the pipe, then SC a black border and used a yarn needle and black yarn to separate the top from the bottom pipe.  I'll clarify this in the original post for others  Smiley

I used a size J hook with mine, you can try a size P but I'm not sure if the scarf width would be too thick in the end.

I am going to make this.  That being said, like many others I was led here by the way of Geekologie.  And, that being said, I have absolutely no experience in crochet. none at all.  So.... what do I do?

LOVE IT!!! Did I miss the post that had the pattern for the plant head? The scarf just wouldn't be complete without it!
