I am a little nervous sharing this, as I have only been crocheting since Christmas, so I am still learning. One of the challenges I have set myself for 2016 is to learn to crochet.

I found this free pattern on Ravelry - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bb-dragon. As I have only just started to learn, I didn't want to spend too much money on patterns just yet, so finding this gorgeous free pattern was a huge bonus.

I went with the colours of wool I already had, which actually worked well, as he was a gift for my husband and his Harry Potter house is Gryffindor, so the colours were perfect!  Grin

The name Bob is an on-going joke in our house, anything that needs to get named always starts as Bob! The Bumblebee element was so that I could learn to add stripes and swap between colours. One back leg has a patch rather than stripes, which gives him the back story of being the runt of his litter and having a throwback imperfection due to a family indiscretion somewhere in the past Cheesy

I am not 100% happy with the stripes, I think I need more practice at that, and I am really not happy with the eyes. I am not sure whether it is the colour I chose or the style, but it makes him look really sad. I tried a couple of other eye patterns, other than the one that came with the pattern, but I was not happy with any of them. Possibly the wool was too thick, maybe I need to try something thinner. I also need to practice how to maintain an even tension, but despite all of this, I am so happy with how he came out in the end.

Fabulous crocheting, seeuudee! Great work, specially for only having become a "hooker"  Grin Grin since Christmas! Love his wee expression.

Are you kidding? I love this!!  I am new to crochet, too, and will NEED to go look at that free pattern! You did a fabulous job on Bob, and I don't think he looks sad at all - he is adorable! Great work! Smiley
