Hi Smiley. I'm going to Barnes and Noble and they are having a sale on craft books today.  I found out from the Barnes and Noble website that they have a lot of knitting books on sale.  I can't decide which one I might want to buy.  I have narrowed it down to Last Minute Knitted Gifts, Stitch n' Bitch Nation, and Scarft Style.  I'm an advance beginner at knitting, I think.  Please help me decide! Cheesy

I recommend getting Stitch n Bitch before Stitch n Bitch Nation. Kintting Without Tears by Elizabeth Zimmerman and Vogue knitting have been a big help to me as a new knitter.  Grin

Hmm.  I wonder if I'm too sick to take my $75 of gift certificates on over and splurge on cheap knitting books.

I really loved SnB.  I haven't made anything out of it yet, but the info has been invaluable to me.  Throughout my learning process, I keep referring back to it for the "right" way to go about things.  It was because of SnB that I decided to learn mattress stitch at the outset.  It was SnB that taught me how to pick up stitches effectively, and how to make pretty or invisible increases.  Even if you prefer the patterns in Nation, having SnB as a reference book is a fantastic idea.

I've been pining for Last Minute Knitted Gifts myself, as well.  I'm a member of Crafter's Choice book club, and was supposed to get it in a two-some offer with "Hip Knits" but it was on backorder, and they cancelled that portion of the order because it had been open so long.  But they still only offer it as a two-some with "Hip Knits" so I can't order it from them without also getting a book I already have.  *sigh*  Wonder how much it is on sale.

I found Stitch N Bitch to be very helpful which you already have.  I also found the Maria Righetti book, Knitting without tears usefull.  I like the SNB nation patterns a little better than the original, but I wonder if that is because I am more comfortable kniiting.  I love the Cable hat, and have made the boob tube, and am working on one of the scarves.  I want to also make Lucky!!
