My son wanted to stegosaurus cake for his third birthday, so I decided to get past my fear and attempt to do one. My mother-in-law taught me how to do the drop stars and I figured out the rest based on looking at other pictures and coming up with my own design from that. Any way, I thought it came out nice and was pretty proud of it. I hope my son likes his party tomorrow!

Adorable, if that's an appropriate word for a cake.  It looks great.  Well done.

I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.

If for some incredibly odd reason your son doesn't like it then you can make my birthday cakes from now on Smiley Out of all my birthdays the cakes I remember the most are the ones my mom and/or grandma made for me...well not counting the dinosaur commercial cake that my mom got to smoking cause she was talking to the telemarketer while everyone else was singing the birthday song.

On a side note how awesome is it that your MIL was able to teach you a crafty/baketastic thing? I love the passing of knowledge.

thanks everyone! It was funny, last night before the spikes were on, my dad came downstairs and said, "Oh, that's a nice crocodile!"
Then my son comes up while I'm halfway frosting it and said "Wow, it's turning into a mountain!"
Now that it's all said and done, I think he will see that it is a dinosaur, but either way I think he'll like eating it!
