I've been doing a lot of silhouette paintings because I love how simple (sort of! LOL) they can be and yet so dramatic in the color contrast. Here's a bunch..

Thanks for looking!

Those are beautiful! How small are they?

They were painted on book boards that I got at a local recycle center which are approximately 8" x 8.5". Not super small but smaller than I typically work with.

I love these. Especially the green rabbit reading and the blue birds walking with two women. Very cool work.

I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.

Wow! Aren't you a busy bee lately? I have always been partial to the silhouette style & all of these lil' pieces are really sweet. They all have a mystical, fairy tail quality. what are your plans for them? ( Christmas gifts?  Wink  ) Great job!

wow I really like the 'simplicity' of them. The black silhouettes go very well with the colored background.
On what do you paint? And how big are they?

Well, you know I love these, having bought two of them in Shop the Swap! The silhouettes are cut out, yes? I'm amazed at some of the detail, like the bird cage and hair and feathers. I love the background colours too, especially the night sky one.

The majority of them went into my shop for the STS but I do have a few extra that I'm going to be giving as gifts for Christmas.

On what do you paint? And how big are they?

It's painted on book board which is basically a really thick cardboard. I covered it with gesso as a base and then got messy with acrylic paints to make the color blending. They're each 8" x 8.5" except the Bird Lady which was approximately 8.5" x 11"

Yes, I bought some really nice black paper with a little bit of texture to cut the images out of (there is no way I could paint that freehand!) and then once the background is prepared I glue it down and modge podge it within an inch of its life LOL
