I like my bags to be something I can throw in the wash, but I wanted them to be solid on the bottom. So I made a bottom insert that's water proof (cardboard, heavy, wrapped completely in duct tape) in a fabric pouch.
i was having the same problem .. great idea!!!!!  thanks so much for posting it! ! Smiley

I really want to make one of these bags...but I haven't been sewing for long and it looks really overwhelming!
They all look so great though, I'm going to give it a go this evening

Jordy is the ultimate!
I've made a few bags from this tutorial but I just finished my favorite one.

I made it out of astro turf that I cut off of a putting green. You know, the kind that business people have in their offices? Shame on them! They should be working! Well, it was such a pain to sew, but I'm so glad that I did! The butterflies are metal, so it's not a very cuddly purse. But it's still lovely.

sinnimaria- Your bags are the cutest! I absolutely adore the tiger one! Do you sell them? Would you be willing to trade for something? You can PM me if you like.

If I'm not mistaken, you can get astro turf at 'Home Improvement' wonderlands...like Lowe's or Home Depot
