thanx for the tutorials everyone and great ideas.....but one question...

on the strap...if you wanted your 'patterned' material on the inside of the strap also. ..
(like jordy's dotty material on the inner side of the strap with the tweed on the outside)
......at the start when you place the strap into the bag, which way up would you put the patterened lining? facing upwards or downwards?  Huh

sorry i cant work it out!

thanx to anyone you can help!  Grin

Facing upwards, i believe, so the top/outside of your strap is against the outside of your bag - right sides together.  With the strap facing up, the inside/lining of the strap should be right-sides-together with the lining of the bag.

Here's my Jordy bag!!!

Thanks for the tutorial! This was really easy & fun to make. I made a little pin (inspired by some that I'd seen on another website... I can't remember the artist's name) to go on the bag as well.

Here's my first THREE near identical Jordys... these bags were my first sewing project ever!

They are all made of the same corduroy shell and pink/purple lining. The cord color is hard to tell and takes on a purpleish/brownish hue when matched with its lining.

and... http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/19390inside2.jpg

I used medium interfacing in Bag #1, and used a regular snap closure b/c I realized that it still just flops open when something is inside. I forgot the interfacing in Bag #2, but it has a little makeshift closure flap and velcro to solve the problems in Bag #1. Then in Bag #3 it has the same type of flap (lining matches this time) and a magnetic snap! I like the magnet snap best, but the velcro one came out better I think.

B/c I'm a guy, alas, I must give away my creations. The first one goes to my fiancee, second goes to her little sister, and the third to a friend for her 30th birthday.

Go to my Craftster.org photo gallery to check out the rest!

Thanks Jordy... thanks Craftster!

diagonalman, you are AWESOME! Great work on the bags, I love corduroy, and I love the lining, very very nice! I'm sure all three recipients will be very excited to receive those...."Where did you get that CUTE bag?" " Oh...my fiance made it for me." Now THAT is cool, mad props....

I made the bag and it turned out awsome!
But I didn't use any interfacing(?) because I didn't know what it was. (What is it?)
And I was gonna ask what I could use to make it a little sturdier and not so flimsy? ( Does the interfacing not make it flimsy?)

Thanks so much for the pattern!
