I came across this thread during the summer, and have become smitten with bags now!!  Mine are never extremely sturdy [I use a fairly flimsy interfacing] but I like them, so it's all good!  It's such a simple tutorial.  I have had so many people comment on them, and I proudly respond with, "Thanks, I made it!"  Hehe.

I wish I had a digital camera, I would post pictures!  *pout*

This is your one opportunity to do something that no one has ever done before and that no one will copy throughout human existence. And if nothing else, you will be remembered as the one guy who ever did this. This one thing.

This tutorial is fantastic. I made my first Jordy Bag on the weekend, here it is....

And I have made two more since! I have put medium weight interfacing in the bag so it's a lot stiffer now.

See?

I love these bags! Thanks to Jordy for her tutorial and everyone elses beautiful bags for inspiration!

Jordy & gang[
Great tutorial. I had so much fun sewing this.    This is my first purse.  All my material came from goodwill.  The exterior was a skirt. the interior was a table cloth.  The zipper and magnetic clasp came from a purse.  Total of about 3 bucks or so.  I think it's so cool how a skirt is now a purse.  Maybe the skirt was having some sort of mid life crisis and decided it was time for a drastic change!
Now to figure out who deserves this lovely purse!

Wow, great Jordy. I love the yellow polka dot material. The outer fabric is great, too!

Gals,
Thanks for all the compliments!  I'm on the look out for more material to make another bag.  The second Im sure will be funkier!

Aaurora, the kitten was done just like jordy did using felt cutting it out and sewing it on.  Here's exactly how I came up with it.  I searched the internet for images of cats. I found one that I liked. I stretched it in Photoshop to suit my needs. I then imported it to AutoCAD traced it and made the legs and tail a bit fatter so it would work & scaled it. Then I printed the outline and spray glued it on to the felt. cut it out and sewed it on.  Sort of a mini project on its own, I guess!

There's nothing really to the magnetic clasps.  You should give them a try.  The kind I used need to be added when you have access to the inside of the bag.  But there may be a kind you can sew in after the fact.
