fabric.com has quite a few. I'm pretty sure they ship internationally, but it probably be pretty expensive.

If you have Joann's near you check out their selection, they actually have a whole section of plaids at my Joanns. You can also check out their website:

Lots of plaids there, flannel, fleece you name it!

Try using the key words 'Buffalo Check' instead of plaid.  The prints with the big color blocks are sometimes called that instead of plaid.

I'm going to second on Joanne's. I went to one last week and they had at least 30 different plaids in flannels, tweeds and some basic cotton prints. I don't know if they have any stores in France but their shipping prices are reasonable.

I was looking for a plaid to use for my one-year-old grandaughter's Christmas dress and had an awful time finding a good plaid for it, one without metalic threads in it.  Joann's had large plaids of all kinds but not a neat small one.  Finally I sent my husband to a large fabric store he passes on business trips, complete with a note to the salesperson saying what I wanted.  She found a nice cotton/poly plaid for me.  It was the only one they had of that type.  Dress came out just fine!!
Maybe small plaids are out this year??   Try Joann's though.
