I am very tempted to join this swap. It sounds amazing....I'm just worried that I'd be biting off more than I can chew...a month is a long time....but I would want to sew/knit everything from scratch, and I can see this getting really costly/time consuming. I think I will think about it for a few days and then decide...

Time consuming, maybe. I don't think it needs to be costly, though. I put on my questionaire that thrifted materials were ok with me. Maybe you and your partner could work something like that out.

It is on the first page, that recons would be ok, and I plan to recon one item, and try a new craft on the other. I don't sew that great myself.

I use thrifted sheets a lot to make items like aprons, bags, shirts....so I am TOTALLY all good with thrifted or recycled materials Smiley

Just signed up!!!! FINALLY!!  Can't wait to get a partner and start.  This and the random swap are my only big swaps now that I sent off on everything else large, and will be sending on the 44 center shortly and the SSS20 is wrapped up on my end, as in all I have to do is send when my 10 partners are ready.

Yay, I got my feedback.  Now to sit down and actually fill out the questionnaire.  Sewing machines and I don't always get along, so I don't do too much that requires more than just basic stitching.  But I totally hope to be able to try my hand at a larger embroidery project, maybe stenciling, or otherwise alter garments rather than make them from scratch.

And thrift stores are absolutely wonderful.

I still have to figure out what I'm doing for holiday presents...

Thrift stores are a good idea, and reconstructing items could work too...I just don't see myself going that route. I dunno, we'll see!

Ok....since I am losing my job in a month and will have absolutely nothing to do the entire month of November...I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and join this swap!

I like how a patchwork skirt sounds.... That will definitely be on my list.  Grin Those never come in my size.
How can I dress like a crazy music teacher without a patchwork skirt? I ask you...

I just made a patchwork skirt for someone, it was so much fun to make.  Picking out all of the different fabrics, perfect for someone like me who goes into the fabric store and wants everything!  There was a lot of time at the sewing machine, but it was all straight stitching, pretty mindless.  I thought I would throw all that out there, so whoever ends up your partner knows how fun they are to make!

If I get feedback on my first swap by the 12th I am signing up for this.  I love the idea behind it, plus I've just really gotten back into sewing so this swap has good timing.
