So what do you do when you're home alone and are sick?

MAKE A HOMECOMING DRESS!!!! whooo yay

I actually started this a couple of weeks ago but that was just to sew the strips of fabric together

I hate how i don't own a serger, all my seams are crappy and already fraying. I double stitched most seams for extra reinforcement as my dress frays while I dance in it
I designed the dress myself, and used a sleep shirt pattern that I altered as I went along. The dress was originally supposed to have sleeves, but I like it how it is now.
The dress is a light rose colored satin and the black parts are satin also. It has a split at the bottom and there's a zipper down the front so it can be risque if i want  Wink  I really like how this dress turned out and as a senior this year I wanted to wear something unique for my last homecoming

It's an adorable dress. But as you say...risque. There's no way I'd let my daughter wear it. So, you may have accomplished your goal!

I think it's adorable, very nice job. If you can grab some Fray Check at your local fabric shop it should stop the unraveling. I too know the sadness of not owning a Serger, and Fray Check has saved me many times before! Have an amazing homecoming!

This is a really pretty dress. I'm not fond of any pink, but the colors contrast well. It looks great on you!  Cheesy You accomplished your goal of making something wearable, interesting, and unique.
I second the Fray Check suggestion. It may really help you if you want to save it for the future/keep it from fraying as you dance. Have fun!

I actually like this a lot! Don't forget to test the Fray Check first to make sure it doesn't dry wet looking just in case you get some on the body of the dress. I have made that mistake before and it looks like an oil spot then Sad If it does you can just zig zag over the seam allowance  Wink

use a little fray check on all the seams but go easy on it because it will stain the rest of the dress if it gets on because it is satin in the future when scissors are on sale you should buy some pinking shears till you have a serger
You did a rocking job! it looks Great!
