An inpulsive trip to Barnes & Noble scored me Todd Oldham's new book "Handmade Modern" Some of the "pillow" projects look especially pleasing to me, So much so that I tried the Beach Ball pillow on my own.
I took a scan of the template in the book

I resized it to 13 1/2" in length to make the 12 in ball
You can also have it at 15 1/2" for a 14in. or 17 1/2' for a 16in.
Cut out 6 pieces of fabric to the shape of the template (The book had wool felt, I used old jeans & some tweed like pants)
Make half the ball by stitching together three pieces , repeat with the other three, then stitch both halves together, leaving a 4 in. space to turn it right-side-in & stuff with poly-fill
With this as the finished product:

This is just my example, doing it in my own way, also hand-stitching it while the book of course, did it by machine. The book has more detailed instructions on the pillow.
