I needed to begin sprucing up our livingroom. my mother recently gave me a massive bag of fabric she's never going to use. in it was a length of Laura Ashley fabric (originally bought for 37/meter omg why do that and not use it?!)... it's stunning imho, and it inspired me to make new cushions.

I looked for new cushion pads and found them prohibitively expensive at the moment, so I turned to ingenuity and used asda smartprice pillows, cut in half and sewn shut by hand. I also used a long-forgotten pillow from the back of my closet; it had been through the tumble dryer and had not come off ok lol!

so now I had my 5 new cushions, and a whole day to make new covers!

here's my favorite to start off with. now I'm a total novice at patchwork, so I'm pleased how this turned out.

it has some of the laura ashley fabric, some antique hand made nottingham lace (I'm from nottingham, so is my mum), a square of corduroy because I love corduroy and a flower taken from a sample piece of a different Laura Ashley fabric which has been machine appliqud on to there.

now for the others...

I didnt want them to be uniform in style because that's not how I roll!

I did some on the RS of the fabric, and made some with the WS showing instead. not that you can tell, it's a tightly woven fabric in a damask style so I'm not sure there is a RS and a WS lol!

all the rest are slip covers, but I put buttons on this one to be different. I'm incredibly lazy and hate doing button holes... the buttons on this one are very old, they came in a box full which my mother in law passed to me recently.

and finally, the whole set-up, along with bashed up sofa and older cushions which were bought when we first moved out of my father in law's house and in to a flat together some 5 years ago.

I'm now taking bets on how long it takes the 4 year old to get something to stain them lol!!

Soo purty:) and I give the lil one a week. Only because you are expecting the stain. Toddlers are like ninjas, they will not attack when you expect.
