This is my first post, but I lurk all the time. We recently bought a house and have been painting everything. Our dining room was almost done but we didn't have a table. Thanks to craigslist and a $60 table now we do. Except it was oak and white(eww anyone?) so i painted it. Our dining room/kitchen is done in limey green, brown, oranges with a mural.

First I tried liquid deglosser but that didn't work so I sanded it down. After wiping it down to remove dust I applied 2 coats of brown paint. After allowing it to dry I applied laquer. And now it matches my funky dining room.

I like the dark top.... I really can't stand "blond" wood looks. Wood should be dark and rich in my opinion. Oak and pine and other blondish woods look too country to me.

Thanks for the compliments. I love the result too.

Ugh I hate light wood too. My next big project is to either stain or paint our oak cabinets.

Boldly going where others have probably been.

I have a table almost identical to that. My husband and I got it for free and we have been wanting to refinish it. Now I am really inspired!

Oh.MY.Word.  That is freakin' awesome.  It really works there.  I love it.

I was afraid that I was going to see a black table or something, but this is beautiful.  Great job.

That looks awesome and matches the rest of the room really nicely.  Good job!
